“Health is the proper relationship between microcosm, which is man, and the macrocosm, which is the universe. Disease is a disruption of this relationship.”~Dr. Yeshe Donden, physician to the Dalai Lama
When the body is not at ease we call it Disease. I had a lovely phone conversation today with a perspective new client who is currently recovering from Hodgkinsons. Her GP had recommended Pilates and Yoga as a way of returning her movement patterns to her body, as her muscles are feeling the effects of the chemotherapy treatment.
Like any clients who enquires, I never throw them straight into a class, I always take them through a private consultation so we “assess rather than guess”. That way we can make sure that the client’s goals and expectations are realistic and can also be achieved in an appropriate time and manner.
When we experience pain ourselves or pain through others, this can make us feel angry, resentful, why me?, Is there a god?, and similar other outward bursts towards others and ourselves. Pain does not have to show as an illness it can show as emotion. Learning to love ourselves is one of the hardest things people find to do.
Having a love and a dream will project and identify what you want in life and help you to cultivate it together. Most people spend their whole lives climbing the ladder of success but when they get to the top, find it was against the wrong wall.
The Yogis chakra system tells us that love and relationships are connected with the 4th chakra, which is the heart (Anahata). Colours associated with this are green and pink. The first step to our own self-healing (vitality and happiness) is mastering our eating and caring for our body so that it isn’t constantly generating fear impulses as a means of surviving and it is aware of our thoughts, words and deeds.
We cannot learn to be in balance if we have not experienced sickness, disease and a healthy happy life. I’d like you think about what you love and what inspires you and this will help you get back on the tightrope of health. You will not appreciate good health unless you have been out of health.
The body never lies-just look, listen and feel your way to good health using the Chek six basic principles.
The more opportunity and awareness we receive the more we have the ability to change things. The six basic principles are divided into two categories,
Yin qualities are nutrition, and hydration and sleep and yang qualities are breathing, thinking and moving.
Get back onto your tightrope of homeostasis; by homeostasis I mean functional balance. When you are not on the tightrope you will be in allostatsis, which is, say a stressful event consciously or unconsciously. Let’s be healthy so that we can create what we want, rather than what we don’t want. Both yin and yang constantly change to create balance.
Below is a beautiful radio interview with a caller and Paul Chek on ‘Love yourself’.
I would like to finish by sharing with you the simple ideas of the four agreements. They provide an inspirational code for life; a personal development model, and a template for personal development, behaviour, communications and relationships.
The four agreements – Don Miguel Ruiz’s code for life
Agreement 1
Be impeccable with your word – Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
Agreement 2
Don’t take anything personally – Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.
Agreement 3
Don’t make assumptions – Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
Agreement 4
Always do your best – Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.
“The greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering the attitudes of their minds.” ~Albert Schweitzer
