Did you know that our outside or exterior reflects our inside or interior?

Are your poops stinking or perhaps a members of your work team or family?

Are you suffering from IBS like I used to in my 20’s and treating symptoms rather than root cause?

Are diet foods, diet clubs, commercial diets making it worse, staying the same or not changing?

Are you striking matches in the toilet to get rid of the stink? (The match does not get rid of the smell, but matches are said to mask the methyl mercaptan found in flatulence and faeces).

Everything is organ and gut health. If you have poor quality connective tissue no amount of exercise including pilates and yoga or physio is going to repair you optimally. In the cadaver labs, we call this ‘PPP’ (piss poor protaplasm).

So when people ask me how long it will it take to repair, get rid of pain, tone up, lose weight etc – this will depend on the quality of your connective tissues.

The outer body or skin is a dumping ground for the body’s inner organs. If you are constantly spraying yourself with deodorants, perfumes or aftershaves this is telling me that your organs of detoxification are not working properly and unconsciously you are trying to cover something up. We are marketed perfumes and aftershaves with beautiful models and men with amazing physiques, however this does not represent inner health and is a quick fix. Now we all like a nice fragrance including myself but save it for a special occasion and start to smell your body’s connective tissue. If your sweat is stinking during class you need to address your organs. There is a distinct smell that we all release when moving and I can always tell if a client’s liver is operating optimally. I am not saying it’s the client’s fault, but it is usually lack of awareness, the poor smell can be caused by poor food choices, medications or smoking.

Eugen Sandow April 2, 1867 – October 14, 1925, was the father of modern bodybuilding. He acquired that title for good reason. Not only was Sandow strong, but he developed revolutionary strength training processes for his time that we still employ today. He always stated that the benefits of his system were not confined to the visible muscular structure. the inner organs shared them, in particular, the liver and kidneys. The digestive organs vigorously stimulate the muscular system and this the nervous system and brain.

The diagram below is Paul Chek’s poopie policeman. A healthy poop is a sign of a healthy body. Your health begins when you look into the toilet. Paul Chek designed this picture to help his patients understand how their health is affected by how they eat, sleep, move, pump, and hydrate themselves.  Your total sum of all your stressors come together to show you what they are doing to your bowels.  The real first sign of health gain or loss is in your stool.  What doctor has ever asked you to describe your bowel movement to them?

A healthy poop should be:

  • Be well shaped and consistent in movement
  • Pass easily and be pleasurable
  • Be light brown in colour
  • Smell natural, almost earthy – not foul

How Much More Does Your Poop Tell Me About You?

In closing, it’s important for you to know your dietary habits aren’t the only things your poop tells me about your physical health. Fact is, it provides lots of clues about many health conditions and potential problems. For example:

  • The balance of your autonomic nervous system
  • The functional capacity of your liver and gallbladder
  • The functioning of your digestive (stomach, small intestine) and eliminative systems (colon)
  • The state of your mental health
  • The possibility that medical drugs may be disabling your digestive and/or eliminative systems
  • Using supplements, powders and potions that aren’t compatible with your body
  • How your body responds to exercise, or the lack of same
  • The likelihood of other health challenges, like parasites or a fungal infection

And lastly, there is a reason I say this: Please do not wear any toxic perfume/cologne, chemical, fabric softener, detergents or artificial scents of any kind in the studio.
