SUMMARY:Infant Development including neck\, upper back\, and shoulders
DESCRIPTION:Can’t squat or lack agility? Ever wondered why you struggle to learn some basic movement patterns or simply are not as skilled as you wish? Barring injury\, the problem is often not where you think it is. It may not even be as simple as being taught how to squat or doing more of that exercise. The answer might just be in your very first movements as a child. Life begins on the ground. Our first movements involve looking around us to see what is happening. As we are attracted to voices\, we start looking for these people as our eyesight begins to develop. Soon we’re rolling over onto our bellies to initiate the process of crawling\, which will eventually lead us to grab hold of something and take our first stuttering steps forward. This workshop will look at infant development and reflexes and its relation to primal and functional movement in life.

SUMMARY:The Art of Flexibility
DESCRIPTION:Flexibility training is perhaps the most undervalued component of conditioning and general well being. While recent and ongoing debate questions its role in injury prevention\, we can still gain much from a stretching regime. Why is it some of us have it and some of us don’t ? How do we increase it for those who need it and strengthen for those who don’t. If you are teacher are you really stretching what needs to be stretched and lengthening what needs to be strengthened.

SUMMARY:Spinal Revolution
DESCRIPTION:With 76% of back surgeries failing more and more people are turning to movement therapies to help alleviate pain. Low back pain is very common. Fortunately\, most people find that it only lasts a few days or weeks. The exact cause of low back pain is often difficult to find. Tension\, soreness and/or stiffness are common symptoms. Joints\, connective tissue and discs may contribute to the symptoms. The thoracic spine is built for rotation\, flexion\, and extension. It is highly mobile – or\, rather\, it has the potential for lots of mobility. Because of its mobility\, the thoracic spine must be used\, must be moved. But it has to be known. If people are unable to visualize and feel the movement of the thoracic spine\, or if they’re unable to even grasp the concept of its existence\, they’ll just attempt to twist\, rotate\, flex\, and bend with something familiar to them: the lumbar spine. That’s bad news. A movement system that gently works the entire body opening energy pathways through rhythmic\, spiraling movements.

SUMMARY:The Truth About the Core
DESCRIPTION:Flattening your abs and teaching core exercises in a class requires much more than simply exercising. If you suffer from IBS\, Crohn’s or have fungus and parasites\, this will inhibit the bodies ability to fire the core which will then be overtaken by more excited muscle groups and areas of the body. If you also do not have optimal posture and function\, the body cannot take action.

SUMMARY:Hips\, Hamstrings and Lower Limb
DESCRIPTION:Your hip flexors and hamstring muscles are one of the most important groups of muscles necessary for long term mobility\, stability and safety of your lower body. Healthy\, conditioned and well maintained hip flexors and hamstrings are necessary for preventing hip\, knee and lumbar issues. Acute or chronic pain in these areas can signify a restriction and compensation of movement. If symptoms are found to be structural in nature\, then it is important to understand both why and what can be done to correct them. Most low back pain and sciatica problems will benefit from a regular routine of hamstring movement. Restriction in the hamstrings places increased stress on the low back and often aggravates or even causes some of the conditions that lead to low back pain and/or sciatica pain.

SUMMARY:Feet & gait analysis in movement
DESCRIPTION:We spend most of lives on two feet\, we are biped creatures. This one-day course will explore the biomechanics of the feet\, ankles\, knees and hips with regard to alignment and gait. Looking at how the shape of our feet interacts with ground force reaction and gravity.  Our elastic structures create and store energy to allow us to be efficient in our movement patterns but why do some of us have it and some of us don’t. Looking at how different structures relate to each other to create a balanced alignment and coordinated movement.

SUMMARY:The Supple & Somatic Leopard Anatomy in movement CPD
DESCRIPTION:Teachers are you looking for NEW ideas for your pilates mat-work or yoga classes?\nPerhaps your a physio or manual therapist looking to give some different perspectives?\nAre you loosing clients because they are not really getting what they need to feel and see results?\nTeachers you will need to stand out from the crowd by being different\, get the edge!\n\nLeopards symbolise strength\, power\, courage\, and determination. Leopard spirit animals can also teach us the importance of being resourceful and mindful of our surroundings. Today we use a combination of embryological ancestry\, developmental patterns\, pilates \, yoga and manual rehabilitation techniques to find space\, breath\, awareness and to work with gravity in relation the mind and body .\nWe invite you to find: \nSthira refers to stability\, intent\, and strength. Etymologically it arises from the root stha\, which means “to stand\, to be firm”.\nSukha refers to comfort\, ease\, and openness\, and the literal meaning is “good space\,” from the root words su (good) and kha (space).\nThe concept of Sthira and Sukha in yogic philosophy alludes to exactly that; the polarized yet completely balanced nature of life. These two concepts are found in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali\, a collection of 196 Sutras (aphorisms) on the theory and practice of yoga. The sutra that refers to these terms is sutra 2.46 – “sthira-sukham asanam”. This sentence can be roughly translated as “postures should be stable and comfortable”\, and it is also often reworded as the balance between “effort” and “ease.” \nRather than force your body into fight and flight\, we will encourage and lead nay invitation or when the body is ready. This is ideal for reprogramming pain with rehab clients and ineffective firing patterns in professional sports clients. \nThe central nervous system\, breath and body mind connection cannot be separated. As above so is below. We will look at the path of emotion and belief system in movement. \nMats and Pilates apparatus (including reformer) will be used as I guide you through a myriad of mindset and movement. \nThis anatomy in movement CPD is ideal for both movement and manual therapists. \nYou will take away a wealth of ideas\, sequencing and repertoire suitable for both one to one and group programing \nWhen: Sunday 4th February \nWhere: Pilates Manchester\, Cadman House\, 2 Wharf rd\, Sale\, Manchester\, M33 2AF (Plenty of free parking). Tram stop 2 minutes walk – https://www.pilatesmanchester.com/timetable-manchester/location/ \nTime: 10-5pm \nBreakdown – Part 1 – 10am-1pm\, 1pm-2pm sharing food circle\, Part 2 – 2-5pm. \nCost: £145 \nCPD : 6 points – To find out more click here \nTerms and conditions apply and cancellation policy apply\, click here \nTo book and pay\, click here

SUMMARY:Myofascial springs\, slings\, spirals and lines
DESCRIPTION:This event is face to face. \nWho is it for: Yoga & matwork teachers\, manual therapists\, apparatus teachers \nWatch a video  \nAlthough fascia is the latest buzzword among therapists\, it has actually been around for a long time. Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater. Fascia is very densely woven\, covering and interpenetrating every muscle\, bone\, nerve\, artery and vein\, as well as\, all of our internal organs including the heart\, lungs\, brain and spinal cord. It can be described as slings\, springs and spiral lines depending on whether you are a movement or manual therapist. The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption. In this way you can begin to see that each part of the entire body is connected to every other part by the fascia\, like the yarn in a sweater. \nOnline store link: \nAll movement should have elasticity\, bounce and freedom. We tend to get density\, compression\, restriction and pain. \nWhat you will learn: \n\nUnderstand the relationship between gravity\, load and tensegrity on the the facial connective chain.\nApply the foundations of slings\, springs and spirals in both group and one to one programming in order to enhance intelligent movement.\nDiscover how and when to use “less is more” principle of the movement/manual programme.\nIdentify the different methods in fascia from Ida Rolf\, Tom Myers\, Chaitow and Schlep.\nCompare some medical studies and how to apply the knowledge with clients.\nDevelop a system of movements or moves that can be integrated into a Yoga\,Pilates\, movement or manual therapy session\nIntegrate stability\, movement and elasticity into both the inner and outer self.\nResolve faulty breath patterns with fascial unwinding and preparatory exercises.\n\nBook and pay here: \nWhat they said: \n“Feeling engaged with the course\, noticing some tightness / heaviness throughout my body. Hoping to successfully incorporate some of this information into my teaching!”  \n“I feel comfortable and my body is not feeling as tense as it was when I arrived. I’m looking forward to learning more about everything. So far I’m very happy! Lots of information and plenty of ideas of the way the body moves. Definitely looking forward to setting this into my practise!”  \n“Remaining open-minded to new and different ideas/approaches to movement. Feeling refreshed and looking forward to adopting some of these techniques gradually into my teaching. Very interesting to learn new things from a different perspective.”  \n“Very enjoyable course\, Nisha is very knowledgeable and will definitely do more courses”. \n“After the morning session\, I’m feeling open to learning more about this subject and how I can take it into my work. I’m definitely excited and curious about the ideas presented to me so far\, and I hope this afternoon I can absorb even more information and work out how to translate this into my own work.” – Workshop Client \nBook and pay here:

SUMMARY:Spinal revolution & biotensegrity
DESCRIPTION:Tensegrity models are key because their physical behaviour is similar to living tissues in many ways. Bio means life\, so adding human emotion\, experience and character behind every move gives a different perspective on the tissues.  Biotensegrity is different because it examines the basic rules of physics first and recognises that everything else must be derived from them\, thus representing a paradigm shift in the way that we think about the human body. Our workshop looks at the whole body in relation to the spine\, thus showing that interconnectedness between every part of the organism is essential to generate a proper understanding of its functions and health. \nWe are holistic human beings because the nature of connective tissues is that it maintains separation as much as it creates connection.  “Everything in nature has its own vibrational frequency and elastic quality and biotensegrity represents the dynamic reciprocal elasticity inherent to life” Satya Sardonicus\, DC\, CACCP. This course looks at body mapping and movement in relation to spinal pathologies.  We also look also at tension – compression\, pressure – spacing\, gravity and fluidity\, reaction and response.  Joints\, connective tissue and discs may contribute to the pain symptoms in clients. We will look at the fluidity and elasticity of movement to help this. \n“Absolutely essential for yoga / pilates teachers – so much information in a format that can be used immediately. The group size is excellent\, excellent value for money.”
