SUMMARY:Hips\, Hamstrings and Lower Limb
DESCRIPTION:Your hip flexors and hamstring muscles are one of the most important groups of muscles necessary for long term mobility\, stability and safety of your lower body. Healthy\, conditioned and well maintained hip flexors and hamstrings are necessary for preventing hip\, knee and lumbar issues. Acute or chronic pain in these areas can signify a restriction and compensation of movement. If symptoms are found to be structural in nature\, then it is important to understand both why and what can be done to correct them. Most low back pain and sciatica problems will benefit from a regular routine of hamstring movement. Restriction in the hamstrings places increased stress on the low back and often aggravates or even causes some of the conditions that lead to low back pain and/or sciatica pain.

The common characteristics of each learning style listed below can help you understand how you learn and what methods of learning best fits you. Understanding how you learn can help maximize time you spend studying by incorporating different techniques to custom fit various subjects\, concepts\, and learning objectives. Each preferred learning style has methods that fit the different ways an individual may learn best.

SUMMARY:The Truth About the Core
DESCRIPTION:Flattening your abs and teaching core exercises in a class requires much more than simply exercising. If you suffer from IBS\, Crohn’s or have fungus and parasites\, this will inhibit the bodies ability to fire the core which will then be overtaken by more excited muscle groups and areas of the body. If you also do not have optimal posture and function\, the body cannot take action.

SUMMARY:Spinal Revolution
DESCRIPTION:With 76% of back surgeries failing more and more people are turning to movement therapies to help alleviate pain. Low back pain is very common. Fortunately\, most people find that it only lasts a few days or weeks. The exact cause of low back pain is often difficult to find. Tension\, soreness and/or stiffness are common symptoms. Joints\, connective tissue and discs may contribute to the symptoms. The thoracic spine is built for rotation\, flexion\, and extension. It is highly mobile – or\, rather\, it has the potential for lots of mobility. Because of its mobility\, the thoracic spine must be used\, must be moved. But it has to be known. If people are unable to visualize and feel the movement of the thoracic spine\, or if they’re unable to even grasp the concept of its existence\, they’ll just attempt to twist\, rotate\, flex\, and bend with something familiar to them: the lumbar spine. That’s bad news. A movement system that gently works the entire body opening energy pathways through rhythmic\, spiraling movements.

SUMMARY:The Art of Flexibility
DESCRIPTION:Flexibility training is perhaps the most undervalued component of conditioning and general well being. While recent and ongoing debate questions its role in injury prevention\, we can still gain much from a stretching regime. Why is it some of us have it and some of us don’t ? How do we increase it for those who need it and strengthen for those who don’t. If you are teacher are you really stretching what needs to be stretched and lengthening what needs to be strengthened.

SUMMARY:Infant Development including neck\, upper back\, and shoulders
DESCRIPTION:Can’t squat or lack agility? Ever wondered why you struggle to learn some basic movement patterns or simply are not as skilled as you wish? Barring injury\, the problem is often not where you think it is. It may not even be as simple as being taught how to squat or doing more of that exercise. The answer might just be in your very first movements as a child. Life begins on the ground. Our first movements involve looking around us to see what is happening. As we are attracted to voices\, we start looking for these people as our eyesight begins to develop. Soon we’re rolling over onto our bellies to initiate the process of crawling\, which will eventually lead us to grab hold of something and take our first stuttering steps forward. This workshop will look at infant development and reflexes and its relation to primal and functional movement in life.

Looking at how different structures relate to each other to create a balanced alignment and coordinated movement.\n\n\n\n\nHave you ever been told you have:-\n\na misaligned pelvis\none leg longer than the other\nover pronation in your feet\nlack of pronation in your feet\nrounded shoulders\nlack of mobility in your hips\nCan you feel or see that you:-\n\n\ngrind down your shoes on one side\nsound like an elephant coming\nalways lead with one leg\nconstantly sit with your head forward\nstruggle to move one shoulder like the other\nOr maybe you know you need to strengthen an area of the body such as:- glutes and core\n\n\nLearn strategies to improve this alignment and to improve joint mechanics to create even better efficiency of movement. \nThis one day course will be a mix of both theory and practical work. We will look in detail at the anatomy of the feet and legs including the mechanics of the joints involved\, but will bring this into a practical understanding using predominantly mat-based exercises for movement and manual therapists\, but will also look at some exercises using equipment.

SUMMARY:Postural Analysis in Breathing
DESCRIPTION:The word posture is derived from the Latin verb ponere\, meaning “to put or place.” The word analysis comes from the Greek word analyein\, meaning “to break up.” Therefore\, postural analysis is simply the process of “breaking up” the body to determine where it should be “put or placed.” \nWhen a vehicle’s alignment is off\, it manifests as uneven tread wear and loss of tire life. Likewise\, when a car’s tires are not balanced properly\, ride quality is diminished\, tire life is shortened\, and bearings and shock-absorber performance suffer. When one’s posture is off\, the human body also experiences a range of problems: restricted range of motion\, pain\, organ dysfunction\, and joint\, tendon\, ligament and muscle stress\, to name a few.

SUMMARY:Embodied anatomy & fascia in motion with Nisha Srivastava
DESCRIPTION:Creativity and awakening go hand in hand with our yoga practice. Nisha will deliver an anatomical experience with a difference using the latest research in fascia. The content is delivered through a rhythmic flow of exploration\, kinaesthetic\, and creative learning. The workshop has been researched using cadaveric material rather than just producing pretty pictures showing origins and insertions. We want to think about the integrated system\, a network of connections\, the subtle body using elements of life coaching\, body therapy\, dance\, bodywork\, somatic and martial arts. There will be a powerpoint demonstration plus some amazing ideas to take away and work on. A free online anatomical workshop will be gifted to all those who book.
